Department of Mathematical Sciences

(i)  MATHEMATICS (B. Sc. Degree, Duration: 4 years)

Requirements: Candidates must in addition to Faculty requirements possess credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and one (1) other Science subjects from Physics, Agricultural Science, Technical drawing or Geography.
Description: The study of mathematics imparts ability to think in a logical and creative way. Candidates are exposed to broad knowledge and education in mathematics that develop problem solving skills to a wide range of disciplines like engineering, scientific computing, fluid mechanics, optimization of industrial processes, environmental modelling, and data security. Students who specialize in applied aspects of mathematics will be able to apply their knowledge to real world problems and proffer solutions to them.

(ii)  COMPUTER SCIENCE (B. Sc. Degree, Duration: 4 years)

Requirements: Candidates must in addition to Faculty requirements possess two (2) credit passes in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural science, Technical drawing or Geography and any one of Economics, Government, Accounts, Financial Accounting or Commerce.
Description: This programme teaches the study of computation and design of computational systems such as wireless mobile devices, software development for diverse applications, creating social networks or gaming platforms. Students are exposed to the systematic study of the feasibility, structure, expression and mechanization of the methodical procedures that underlie the acquisition, representation, processing, storage and communication of and access to information either encoded in computer memory or transcribed in genes and protein structures in biological systems.

(iii)  INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY (B. Sc. Degree, Duration: 4 years)

Requirements: Requirements: Candidates must in addition to Faculty requirements possess two (2) credit passes in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural science, Technical drawing or Geography and any one of Economics, Government, Accounts, Financial Accounting or Commerce.
Description: Candidates in this programme will be exposed to the fundamentals of Computation and necessary enterprise software, storage, and audio visual systems, computer architecture and software development.
